Minamoto no Sukehisa knives were hand-forged in Tokyo by master blacksmith Masayasu Yoshitomo, who began learning the craft from his father at age 15 in 1952. His Kajicho workshop represented the distinct urban blacksmithing tradition of Tokyo - far from the famous southern hubs of Sakai and Seki - producing functional, high-carbon blades for professional kitchens. Since the workshop closed in the early 2000s, authentic Sukehisa knives have become prized new-old-stock finds, valued for their SK steel performance and the story of mid-20th-century Tokyo knife culture. At 240mm, this gyuto is the more versatile everyday length - ideal for home cooks and professionals alike - and this example has never been used.
