The Shippu range takes its name from the Japanese word for a swift, powerful wind - and the Damascus pattern on the blade reflects that energy. By forging steel of two different hardness levels over and over, the ripple pattern emerges naturally from the surface while the VG10 core is refined to maximum uniformity and sharpness. VG10 is one of the most respected stainless steels in Japanese knife-making - hard enough to hold a fine edge, tough enough to resist chipping, and stainless enough to require minimal maintenance. The magnolia handle is secured with a water buffalo horn collar that prevents the blade from rattling or coming loose over time. The D-shaped profile sits naturally in the hand for extended prep sessions.
