Includes the same multifunctional base and storage case as the rest of the Seki Magoroku range.

Where This Stone Fits in Your Sharpening System

The 2000 grit stone is the workhorse of a complete sharpening system - fine enough to follow a coarse stone (400 grit) and refine the edge, but also capable of sharpening a moderately dull knife on its own without needing to start coarser. For most home cooks sharpening regularly, the 2000 grit stone is the one they'll use most. Follow with a 6000 or 8000 grit finishing stone for a polished razor edge, or use it as a standalone stone for quick maintenance sharpening between full sessions.

How to Use

  • Fill the case top with water to the fill line and soak the stone for 5-10 minutes
  • Place the stone in the ribbed base - fill the base reservoir with water to keep the stone wet
  • Sharpen at 16° for Japanese knives, 20° for Western knives
  • Keep the stone wet throughout - add water as needed
  • Follow with a 6000 or 8000 grit finishing stone for a polished edge
  • Rinse and dry after use, store in the case flat to prevent warping
  • Flatten periodically with a leveling stone
